Vlado Meller Mastering’s own Jeremy Lubsey recently helped beloved New Orleans brass band
Bonerama bring the funk back to the Big Easy and beyond, mastering their seventh album, Hot Like Fire,
which was released today (October 6) on Basin Street Records.
Featuring covers from the diverse likes of Allen Toussaint and Radiohead along with seven original
tracks, Hot Like Fire is the band’s first album to be distributed by a label after six independent releases,
with Basin Street Records stepping up to the plate to spread the word. It also anticipates the band’s
20th anniversary next year.
“Jeremy’s mastering is present, clear, great levels, and great low end, all around excellent work,” said
Tracey Freeman, who co-produced the record alongside band members Mark Mullins and Craig Klein.
Freeman also handled mixing duties.
“Working with Tracey and Bonerama was a ton of fun, and I’m so glad they’re happy with the final
master,” said Lubsey. “The New Orleans sound deserves to be heard worldwide, and I’m proud to have
helped make this album sound as great on record as it does live.”

This past July, Vlado Meller teamed with legendary trumpet player Herb Alpert to master his new album
Music Vol. 1, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Chart. Now, it’s only fitting that the
two join forces again for The Christmas Wish, Alpert’s first holiday album in nearly 50 years, which was
released on September 29th.
Featuring Alpert’s take on holiday standards such as “Santa Baby,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Winter
Wonderland,” and "Silent Night” with backing from a full symphony and choir, The Christmas Wish was painstakingly mastered by none other than Meller himself. It’s Alpert’s first holiday album since 1968’s
classic Christmas Album, recently named to MOJO’s list of the Top 15 Christmas Albums of All Time.
“Vlado has a very musical and sensitive touch as a mastering engineer,” said Alpert, who has been on a
prolific run of releases with The Christmas Wish marking his second album of 2017 and sixth in five
years. The album was mixed by Jochem van der Saag, who also mixed Music Vol. 1.
“Herb is an incredible talent, and I’m honored to work with him again on this release,” said Meller. “His
trumpet is unlike anyone else’s, and it’s been a pleasure ensuring that it sounds as good on record as it
does in person.”
