SOJA Weaves Poetry in Motion With Vlado’s Mastering Finesse

The Grammy-nominated SOJA (Soldiers of Jah Army) have a brand new album available now on ATO Records, and Vlado was their pick to flesh out the sonic intricacies of their rootsy, reggae-based rock.

The Arlington, Virginia-based octet produced the album itself, along with co-producers Rob Evans (also recording engineer), Mariano Aponte (also mixing engineer), and Iván Gutiérrez (@BorinquenBeats), who initially connected the band with Vlado. SOJA loved his work on single “Bad News” so much that they asked him to master the whole album.

Vlado Meller Mastering’s Own Jeremy Lubsey Teams with New Orleans Faves Bonerama for Brass- Funk Bonanza ‘Hot Like Fire’

Vlado Meller Mastering’s own Jeremy Lubsey recently helped beloved New Orleans brass band
Bonerama bring the funk back to the Big Easy and beyond, mastering their seventh album, Hot Like Fire,
which was released today (October 6) on Basin Street Records.

Featuring covers from the diverse likes of Allen Toussaint and Radiohead along with seven original
tracks, Hot Like Fire is the band’s first album to be distributed by a label after six independent releases,
with Basin Street Records stepping up to the plate to spread the word. It also anticipates the band’s
20th anniversary next year.

“Jeremy’s mastering is present, clear, great levels, and great low end, all around excellent work,” said
Tracey Freeman, who co-produced the record alongside band members Mark Mullins and Craig Klein.
Freeman also handled mixing duties.

“Working with Tracey and Bonerama was a ton of fun, and I’m so glad they’re happy with the final
master,” said Lubsey. “The New Orleans sound deserves to be heard worldwide, and I’m proud to have
helped make this album sound as great on record as it does live.”
