Musical tradition and culture are infectious elements that are deeply embedded within the great city of New Orleans. As the founding members of Arcade Fire, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, relocated to the city, it was only a matter of time before those timely traditions manifested itself within their music.
Tuesday, February 6th, marked the day Butler and Chassagne threw the inaugural one-day event Krewe du Kanaval, intended to become a mainstay within the Mardi Gras tradition, as noted on their website kanaval.org : “Krewe du Kanaval is a new Mardi Gras Krewe, a mobile music event and a celebration of Haiti and the diaspora of cultures that have enriched New Orleans’ identity and arts for hundreds of years.”
Serving as the theme song for the event, the duo in collaboration with the Preservation Hall Horns and the Haitian group RAM released the track “Ann Ale! (Let’s Go!)” which is available at the event’s official website kanaval.org. Proceeds from the event benefit the Preservation Hall Foundation and KANPE, the nonprofit cofounded by Chassagne.
When it came time for mastering the track, the artists tapped Vlado Meller for his mastering services. Vlado Meller Mastering is certainly proud to have played a small part in the celebration, and we wish them much success with the event! Ann Ale!
